Tim Jones of North Shore Rescue

North Shore Rescue - 40th Anniversary - The Ingram ShowTim Jones of North Shore Rescue, talks with David about what it is like to be a part of the volunteer group that searches out and rescues skiers, climbers and hikers in the mountains surrounding Vancouver, BC.

Should hikers and skiers be charged for rescue? Should they be licensed? Fined? Who's responsibility is rescue?

Why do the volunteers do this - do they get any expenses paid? A fascinating insight into what it takes to maintain the training and expertise that it takes to be a part of this elite group.

The Grouse Grind - in summer it is a mecca for outdoors enthusiasts eager to test its almost vertical climb - but outside of the "good weather" season, it is extremely hazardous - with avalanche hazards, fog and insane dangers; yet people march right past the warning signs, climb, get lost or hurt, and call out with their cell phones for rescue. North Shore Rescue are the people who end up having to come to their rescue.
An in-depth interview highlighting the hazards and conditions these volunteers deal with.
