Why should you support Around the World?

The world is changing, and the changes happening are happening faster and faster.

One of the changes we hope you'll understand is what is happening to the news and journalism industry, including Television, Radio, Newspapers, Magazines and any/all other "Traditional" news and opinion outlets.

The advertising-supported news and journalism infrastructure is collapsing. The advertisers have new places and new methods to reach their audiences so the TV/radio stations, newspapers and general magazines no longer have a captive audience that the can essentially force to pay for independent journalism; journalism that helps keep our society running and free from undue influence from business and government corruption and interference.

In their place are more and more non-independent "channels" - directly sponsored and self-serving sites for any/all businesses, governments and organizations.

Investigative journalism is losing out - so is trust in your media.

How are you going to know who to trust? How are you going to find out the truth?

If the traditional newspapers continue to disappear, who will report on your government and hold their feet to the fire?

Who will dig out the dirt on fraud and corruption?

Who will police the police? These activities take time and cost money - money that is no longer "guaranteed" by a captive advertising market.

The answer in part we and many others think (and so far we seem to be correct) is donation-based and/or non-profit organizations who earn the trust, respect and direct contributions of their viewers.

The model is akin to the Public Radio and Public Television movements of the cable TV era. The difference is both in the method of delivery, the internet, and in the scope of individual organizations - one-man operations to medium-sized non-profits.

  • Journalism is not dead - it's just resting - and in need of your support
  • Informed Opinion is worth something
  • Editorial Judgement is worth something

Around the World with David Ingram is our vehicle designed to fill at least some of the gaps left by the ongoing demise of traditional journalism. Only by your support will we be able to continue and grow it.

Only by your participation and feedback will we be able to know whether we are doing the job you want us to do - the job you are willing to pay us to do.

Others are stepping into the gaps and we firmly expect you to help support at least some of them too. Each viewer will find news and views sources that match the topics they are interested in. If ours is one you find and like, encourage us. If you think we can do a good job on other topics or broaden our scope then tell us.

We have chosen to cover cross-border issues - issues that affect people across several or many jurisdictions. Our combined backgrounds give us a fairly unique perspective on issues in this area.

We'll listen to you and in fact expect you to tell us when we're doing good and when we're not.

How can you support Around the World?

The first thing you can do is tell us if you like us and what we're doing - tell us in a fashion that we can use to tell others. Keep those emails and phone calls coming in - we love them. Call in to the show and let us know too.

The second thing you can do is tell others. Word of Mouth and the electronic equivalents are what drive the media world today.

The third thing you can do is support our "Day Jobs" - the businesses we own and have operated for decades. You'll find links to them on this web site. If things go well with this project we'll be leaving the day jobs and doing this full time as we think it is worthwhile doing.

And of course the fourth and best thing you can do is send money. Research costs time, and time is money. There are costs involved in putting on any news show. We'll be looking for general advertising as well, and there may be some times when we do for-pay interviews - but we'll let you know if/when those happen.

And last of all you can help us find interesting topics, research items and find people we and you might be interested in hearing from. Interact with us and grow with us.
