David and Dan Walkow talk about the problems of moving retirement funds across the Canada/US border.

RRSPs, IRAs, 401Ks and all manner of investments run up against jurisdictional problems where the original broker either can't deal with you, even by phone, when you've moved across the border (or even across state or provincial lines in many cases), or may only be allowed to liquidate an investment but not allowed to re-invest or roll over.

Seabank Capital Management Inc. can help in these cases - preferably before you move so you don't end up liquidating plans that are working for you and incurring tax consequences. Even after you've moved - and discovered that your original broker can't help you, Dan can.

David tells horror stories of some of his cross-border clients having their entire portfolios liquidated with huge tax consequences because "my broker told me I had to." In fact, in many cases those crossing the border to live do not have to liquidate any or all.

Dan Walkow - Seabank Capital Management Inc.

Dan Walkow of Seabank Capital Management Inc. talks to David Ingram about cross-border finacial transactions.

Just talking to your stock broker in Canada while you are holidaying (or worse, living) in the US can get the broker in hot water. Many brokers and agents will not deal with you once you move across the border (in either direction) How do you deal with this problem? Dan's company is licensed/registered on both sides of the Canada/US border.

General News

The Ingram Show archives include over 900 one-hour tapes of my talk show.

We're finally getting them digitized and put up here for your entertainment and education. The tapes have languished in my home here in North Vancouver for the past eight to ten years. It has always been my intention to get them put up on my website, and now is the time.
