Chris Delaney joins David and Richard. This evening they continue a bit of a discussion on bogus hardware made in China that comes with built-in software that monitors the traffic and picks out "interesting" information and sends it to China.

David relates a story of purchasing some "blended" US/Canada flags online from China. Thirteen days from conception to delivery of 1000 flags at a price that was almost 1/10th of what a local company had finally, 3 weeks later, bid.

Chris Delaney and Bill Vander Zalm have been leading the rally against the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST)

February 10, 2010 - The Digital Rag

David and Richard talk about Richard's blog - the Digital Rag - which was started in 1994 as the in-house electronic magazine for Wimsey.com, Canada's first commercial ISP. Along the way Richard tells why, after his laptop died he purchased an idential used one on Craig's List instead of getting one of the new ones that now sell for 1/3 what his old one cost.

February 3, 2010 - Jennifer Wade

David Ingram speaks with Jennifer Wade about her knowledge of John Graham, the activist accused of killing Anna Mae Aquash, a Mi'kmaq activist.

In the introduction, David brings up Reverend Kevin Annett and the residential school system in BC. Jennifer talks about a "published" letter that was never published, yet is being used against her in her works.

In this short interview you'll get a bit of the picture but David promises to have Jennifer back on as soon as she's back from an upcoming trip, probably in about 4 weeks. Watch for this.

Shirley Stocker - From Powderpuff Racer to Crimestopper

David Ingram and Richard Pitt have known Shirley Stocker for many years. In this almost 3 hour interview, we learn where she came from and how she ended up one of Vancouver's most valuable assets in terms of her work with Crimestoppers, CKNW Orphans Fund, Variety Telethon and a host of other agencies and positions.

From an initial position with the CBC in Ontario doing "Hog Reports," Shirley came to Vancouver on a sunny Spring day to do a talk and fell in love with the West Coast.

January 27, 2010 - Around the World

David and Richard reprise some of their discussion about copyright, digital rights management and the internet. Along the way, David answers a couple of tax questions from callers including one from an American living "off grid" on an island near Vancouver, and one from Dubai from a Canadian looking into what the tax consequences were of he and his family returning to Canada "in stages."

With reference to the recently released Apple iPad, the discussion of digital rights and the internet includes the differences between Fair Dealing (Canada) and Fair Use (US) in copyright, as well as the difference between "Notice and Takedown" (DMCA) and "Notice and Notice" (Canada) regarding how ISPs deal with putative copyright violations.
