Dr. Tom Godwin - A Doctor's Notes
Wednesday, January 06 2010 @ 11:00 PM PST
Dr. Tom Godwin participated in some of the pioneer heart monitoring done in 1962 at the Toronto General Hospital. Shortly after this he decided that he should start to write down some of the stories of his patients and his peers as he saw them over the years. Now we get to read his notes and get an insight into his practice as a cardiologist.
David Ingram shares stories with Tom about people they both know, including a fascinating look into the politics of Grenada during the Reagan years.
Along the way we learn that Tom has had his neck broken 3 times in his life - and learn about several of the various ways a neck can be broken.
Both David and Tom have veterinarian backgrounds and share some insights. David recounts his knowing the Picton brothers, one of whom is the infamous Willey Picton who has been convicted of murder of several of Vancouver's women.
Personal vignettes provide a look into the life of patients under doctor's care as well as comments on the medical system as it has evolved over the years Tom practiced.
