Dan Walkow - Handling Australian and other Foreign Investments
Wednesday, June 10 2009 @ 12:00 PM PDT
Dan and David discuss not only US/Canada investments but Dan's handling of other foreign invesments. "Any country not connected with terrorism" is Dan's description of the breadth of this market for his company's specialist investment activities.
Dan is set up on Skype to talk to his clients from these foreign jurisdictions. You can call Dan at CASADAN2 via Skype to save on long distance.
Dan's background with Australia and New Zealand goes back to 1973 when he hitch hiked around the two countries, ending up working as a mucker in a mine in Perth, Australia. As we've found in previous interviews, Dan's background includes quite a bit of work in the mining industry in Canada.
Filing U.S. form 8840 - criteria for NOT filing includes being a US citizen, green card holder or applicant for green card. Bad advice from associations who should know better. $10,000 per year filing penalty liabilities just because of bad advice. Cross border tax and investment is a complex area of expertise. Dan and David have their specialties and few others are as conversant with the problems and potential pitfalls of these two complimentary areas of personal finance.
Seabank Capital can handle not only cross-border clients but also those on either side of the 49th parallel for just their domestic investments. In addition, they can handle foreign investments outside of North America.
"Pesimism Porn" - fear sells - is Dan's take on some of the media coverage of the current financial crisis.
